Staying with one of our host families of farmers, artisans and daily wage workers means discovering the lives of ordinary Indians while contributing to poverty alleviation. The rooms have been recently built in the courtyards of these families. They have tiled roofs, are equipped with fans and are tastefully furnished with traditional beds, cane chairs and tables. Some have good views of the monuments in the distance. The bathrooms and toilets are ecological and are shared with the family. Some have running water and western toilets, others have dry, composting toilets that allow nutrients to be recycled. Waste water is filtered and used for irrigation. The rooms, bathrooms and toilets are cleaned every day and the linen is spotless. You can gather around the chula to taste hot chappatis and fresh dal and vegetables or opt for a non-vegetarian meal. The children will immediately make you feel at home. You can watch basketweavers and potters at work. We organise outings in the nearby villages, cycle rides in the Nature Reserve and picnics with swims in the Betwa river. Our guide will be happy to show you around the main temple and explain all about Hindu gods and goddesses to you. Our emphasis is on creating livelihoods for the host families and encouraging cultural exchange. We encourage guests to be a 'window on the world' for people who have little opportunity to travel. So please bring along some photos of your village, town or city to share with our people. Some rooms also comes with 1 single bed.
