Our homestay is a handsome art deco landmark and is an integral part of the heritage and history of the old princely state of Travancore. The house, formed part of the prestigious 28-acre Belhaven Hills, during the 18th century, with Belhaven Palace as the centerpiece. In the late-1880s, Belhaven Palace was the place where European residents in Travancore used to meet and socialize. In 1902, the then Maharaja of Travancore, HH Sree Moolam Thirunal purchased this exquisite house for his Royal Consort Vadasseri Ammachi, Panapillai Amma Srimathi Lakshmi Pillai Karthiani Pillai Kochamma.
The house changed a few hands and is now owned by a Trivandrum-based family who revamped it from a conservation perspective, restoring the heritage personality of the building and its environs with the complete appreciation of the historic character of the broader Kowdiar-Belhaven area.
